Golf GPS Range Finders
A Golf GPS Range Finder is a satellite based mapping device. It communicates with overhead satellites to pinpoint your exact location on the course and also uses previously recorded locations on a particular golf course. It gives you the distance to important locations on the course such as: bunkers, hazards, front, center and rear of the green.
Advantages of a Golf Range Finder GPS Unit:
You don't have to aim it at a target to get a yardage reading. This can be an advantage because you can still get the distance to the target even if your target is not in your line of site such an elevated green or you are behind a bush.

You can store distance info for future use.
Distance to hazards, bunkers, lay-up spots are usually available via course downloads.
Course data is displayed without the need to sight on targets while playing.
Disadvantages of a Golf GPS Range Finder Sytem:
Distance to actual pin location is not available.
Distance to targets not preset into unit will not be available during play.
Not all courses have course maps in the manufacturer's database.
